Photography news!

We went for a photo shoot :D < hear a parade with music and a cheering crowd!)>

We went to Garden Valley, Idaho and Crouch, Idaho  - They are practically the same town...

To get warmed up on the cool spring afternoon we stopped at Wild Bill's  in Crouch, ID on our way through the valley, what a treat! We expected coffee and a little something to eat.. Nothing fancy, hopefully tolerable --- WOW! ---- Surprise of surprises, GOOD coffee and SUPER Panini sandwiches! Simple, tasty food! We will be stopping in to see Bill whenever we are up that way, FOR SURE!

We had the Pastrami on focaccia bread, sweet red peppers, tomato , cheese and garlicky seasonings : P  YUM! Toasted just enough with a swipe of mayonnaise... ahhhh...

I had a Hot, whole milk, Peppermint patty mocha; asked for less chocolate as to get a more balanced , less sweet coffee... What a great taste. Its new on their menu, but since the whole place was new to us, we ventured to try this *new* addition. I recommend , with the less chocolate added. Just like a peppermint patty!

We also tried the vanilla latte, whole milk, it was as good as you can get anywhere.
Bill does use Dawson Taylor's coffee's and has a pro machine, so no burnt coffee as he KNOWS how to use it : )    (2) hats off to Wild Bill's .. we thank you for a great experience!

Now for WHY we went there!
It was a cloudy day, so picture taking wasn't the greatest, but we needed to get OUT and shoot some pics!

We found a few spots that had easy to get off the road pull outs or campgrounds with interesting spots...
We saw Elk (yes!), marmots , an eagle and too many turkey vultures!  It had snowed the night before, all was melted , so maybe the carrion was just recently exposed ? I really don't want to know.

The Elk were a treat to see, the big Roosevelt Elk were all along the river, usually somewhat far from the road, as it was around 4 - 6 PM. We were able to get decent, but not SUPER shots of the elk, here's a couple...

We did get some arty shots, marginal, somewhat interesting 1st of the season shots : ) Hey.. we were rusty, OK!

Hope you enjoy these, I have plenty more to share, these are random samples.
Have any tips, tricks or how to's to improve images or composition... Please let me know :  )
I would love to hear it!

  1. Hi Michele,
I'm so gald you enjoyed your visit to Garden Valley. If you come earlier in the day, especially at dawn, the Elk will be closer to the roads and easier to shoot. Just up the walk from Wild Bills you will find "Books in the Attic", a new and used book store run by Maggie. Here you will also find some great photos done by members of the Garden Valley photo club. Enjoy your shoot and your next trip to our great little town.
